Behind the Scenes: A Journey from Pharmacist to Founder

In the heart of the Rio Grande Valley, nestled deep in South Texas, where I grew up among the breathtaking citrus orchards, cotton and sugarcane fields, I, Alma Y Gutierrez, took my first breath in 1961. My roots are intertwined with the rich tapestry of this land, where the aroma of citrus blossoms danced in the air in our backyard and the landscape told stories of hardworking hands tending to sugarcane. It’s a place where my dad, as a young boy worked the sugarcane and citrus fields, leaving an indelible mark on our family’s narrative.

Raised in a home with three other siblings where hard work and perseverance were valued above all, my parents, first generation Americans and proud bearers of Hispanic roots, instilled in me the essence of dedication and resilience. Though not college educated, they found success in their careers, my dad in newspaper advertising, my mom in special education and my siblings in their respective careers. My mom, Elba, played a crucial role in shaping my appreciation for authenticity and the richness of our heritage. Her authentic Mexican cooking introduced me to the ‘molcajete’, made of volcanic rock( mortar & pestle), a tool we used to grind our own special spices for meals. It was foreshadowing at its best.

Being the first in my immediate family to step onto the path of higher education, I graduated from The University of Texas at Austin College of Pharmacy in 1985. Little did I know that this academic achievement would be the foundation for a transformative journey.

For the past 39 years, I have been a stalwart in the field of pharmacy, serving the community in San Antonio, Texas. My professional journey has seen me occupy various roles from a dedicated pharmacist to corporate level positions in pharmacy management. Each day, as I stand behind the pharmacy counter, I witness the diverse needs of individuals seeking solutions for their health concerns.

My personal quest for relief from menopausal symptoms became the catalyst for a profound shift in my career. Disappointed by the inefficacy of numerous retail and online brands, I embarked on a mission to find a natural solution. This mission didn’t just end with finding relief for myself;  it extended to sharing that relief with others.

In the heart of my own kitchen, I began crafting formulations designed to provide relief for my family and friends. The positive response and shared experiences fueled my determination to make these solutions accessible to others. This was the genesis of Vibrant Living Therapeutics.

Vibrant Living Therapeutics isn’t just a brand; it’s a reference of the values deeply ingrained in my journey. The three pillars “authenticity, wellness and empowerment†echo the principles I learned from my mom and dad and cultivated throughout my professional life.

AUTHENTICITY: Every product is a testament to my commitment to authenticity. Growing up in a household where genuine effort and sincerity were the norm,I carry this authenticity into the formulations. Each ingredient is thoughtfully selected, dedicated to responsibility and sourcing eco friendly ingredients with a desire to make a positive impact.

EMPOWERMENT: My journey from pharmacist to founder is a testament to transformative power of empowerment. As of now, I am in the process of completing my diploma in Organic Skin Care formulations from Formula Botanical in the United Kingdom. Vibrant Living Therapy aims to empower individuals on their unique wellness journey.
